Is SideShift legit? What creators and brands should know

Updated November 3, 2026

Short answer: yes, SideShift is a real company that pays creators. It's run by SideShift Corporation in New York, its creator app has a 4.8 rating from about 30,800 App Store reviews, and it says it paid creators more than $10 million in a single month this year. Whether it's worth your time depends on what you expect to earn, because most SideShift jobs are high-volume and low-priced per video.

This guide covers how SideShift works, how creators get paid, what users complain about, and how it compares with Hypeling. We make Hypeling, so read the comparison with that in mind. Every fact about SideShift comes from its own website, terms and app listing, checked in November 2026.

What SideShift is

SideShift is a creator marketing platform. Brands and agencies pay a monthly subscription to recruit creators, run campaigns, track views and pay creators in one place. Creators use the free "SideShift: Earn Money" app to find jobs, mostly filming short videos for TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and Facebook, often posted to accounts the brand owns.

How it works for creators

  • Who can join: creators 18 and older in the US, Canada, UK and Australia. SideShift doesn't state a follower minimum.
  • Finding work: you apply to jobs in the app. The brand sets the rate per video and any bonus per view, and you apply at that rate.
  • What it pays: SideShift says typical earnings range from $200 to $2,000 a month, plus $1 to $4 per 1,000 views as a performance bonus. On its brand pages, it says the median account pays $7 to $9 a video.
  • Fees: a basic account is free. SideShift charges brands, and charges creators small fees on bank withdrawals. The app also sells an optional Pro subscription.

How creators get paid

Brands fund a wallet, and nothing is paid until the brand approves the work. After a campaign, SideShift releases your earnings to your creator wallet within a few days, and you withdraw them to your bank. Its terms name Whop and Stripe as payment providers, and allow SideShift to hold payouts for up to 180 days in cases of suspected fraud, compliance checks or chargebacks. If a brand doesn't pay, you have 30 days to raise it.

What users complain about

Most App Store reviews are positive: of the 500 most recent, nearly four in five gave five stars. The complaints that do come up repeat a few themes:

  • Sign-up problems, like getting stuck on phone or email verification.
  • Paid upgrades: some expected everything to be free and were surprised by the Pro subscription or a trial that turned into a charge.
  • Slow or blocked withdrawals, and fees on deposits and withdrawals.
  • Low-quality listings, and pay that depends on reaching view targets.
  • Account deletion being hard to find.

On Trustpilot, SideShift scores 1.9 from 18 reviews. That's a small sample, mostly from people with a payout or billing problem, but the themes match the App Store complaints.

How it works for brands

SideShift is a subscription. Starter costs $299 a month for 15 creators live at once, Growth $499 for 50, and Scale $999 for unlimited creators, with about 30% off for annual billing. Creator pay is on top of the subscription, from a wallet you fund, and payment-processing charges may apply. Managed campaigns start at a $20,000 monthly budget. Tax forms and identity checks for creators are included.

It suits brands that want many creators posting many videos at a low price per video, and that will use the tracking tools every month.

Which one is right for you

For creators: if you want lots of small, quick jobs and you're in one of its four countries, SideShift has far more of them. If you'd rather charge for your experience, work from anywhere, or offer editing and clipping too, Hypeling lets you pitch your own price and keep all of it. Many creators use more than one platform; nothing stops you.

For brands: if you want dozens of creators posting every week and will use the platform monthly, SideShift's subscription makes sense. If you run campaigns now and then and want a few strong videos with clear usage rights, a no-subscription marketplace like Hypeling costs less in the months you don't use it.
